Total Awards

A total of 62 Epica winners were elected in 2003, including the two grand prix.  This compares with the 58 winners voted in 2002.  There were 25 film winners, 33 print winners and 4 in the interactive categories.

The number of finalists (entries that did not win their categories but achieved scores high enough to qualify as winners) increased from 271 to 315 due mainly to growth in the interactive categories.

Results by Country

The UK and France topped the winners list with 10 winners each,  followed by Sweden and the Netherlands with 6 (including both grand prix).  The UK also leads the ranking in terms of total awards, (winners and finalists combined), ahead of Sweden and Germany.

A total of 27 countries achieved recognition in 2003, one less than the previous year.  Romania, having appeared on the list for the first time with one finalist in 2002, recorded its first Epica winner this year.
