Berlin’s reputation as a creative hub will be confirmed yet again on November 16 when leading names from the worlds of advertising and technology meet at the Meistersaal to discuss “The Creative Singularity”. The event is supported by our partners Adobe, Euronews, GPN, Screen Vision, AdForum and ACT Responsible.
As its name suggests, the conference is about the intersection between creativity and technology. Artificial intelligence, chatbots, big data, virtual reality, “fake news” – advertising, marketing and media all are being disrupted by these influences. For better or for worse? Will artists and writers be replaced by machines?

RICHARD WILSON: Stop Funding Hate - Co-founder

Richard will talk about how his successful campaign against newspapers that incite hatred was driven by viral video, social media and crowd-funding.

Richard Wilson is a writer, human rights activist and co- founder of Stop Funding Hate. Launched in August 2016, the campaign seeks to make hate unprofitable, and promote the idea of ‘ethical advertising’ by persuading companies to pull advertising from newspapers that incite hatred against minority groups.

Fake vs. Real: How to be real in a land of fake.

SAMI BASUT: Manajans J. Walter Thompson Istanbul - Creative Director

Sami will tackle to tricky subject of authenticity in his presentation “how to be real in a land of fake”.

Sami sold comic books and marbles as a youth before doing an internship at his family’s chain of stores, where he learned to appreciate brands. He studied English Language and Literature at Bosphorus University and later joined Publicis Turkey, where he became creative director. Under his creative leadership JWT Istanbul was named the world’s 37th most creative agency by WARC in 2015, and the 4th most effective agency in Europe in the Effie index the same year. Alongside his role at Manajans/JWT he teaches copywriting at Bosphorus University.

PREETHI MARIAPPAN: Sapient Razorfish - VP, Executive Creative Director of Emerging Experiences EMEA

Preethi will talk about leading a multidisciplinary team focused on digital experiences in the physical world.

Preethi Mariappan leads a multidisciplinary team focused on post-screen digital experiences in the physical world. After a 19-year career across India, Singapore and Dubai, working with Tequila, Ogilvy One and TBWA’s Digital Arts Network, Preethi joined Razorfish, one of the SapientRazorfish predecessor agencies, in 2014, and is now based in Berlin. She also co- founded CoCreator, an app matching startups to agency talent, speaks frequently at conferences, and participates often in startup bootcamps as a mentor.

Connected by design: the R/GA approach.

SASCHA MARTINI: R/GA Berlin - Managing Director

Sascha will give concrete examples of the agency’s philosophy “connected by design”.

Having joined R/GA in April 2017, Sascha is responsible for lead strategy and the development of R/GA capabilities to German clients. Prior to that he was CEO of Razorfish Germany from 2013. He got the basis for a broad digital competence during his work for digital sales and brand specialists Bassier, Bergmann and Kindler. In addition to his work, Sascha is a member of the Federal Association of Digital Economy (BVDW).

ALEXANDER SCHILL: Serviceplan Group - Global CCO & Partner

Alexander will share insights into how the network made it into “the creative front row” in just five years.

Alex Schill was born with a Canadian passport and studied at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. In 1994 he started his career at the famed German hot shop Springer & Jacoby as a junior copywriter. In 2003 he became its Chief Creative Officer. He joined the Serviceplan Group as Associate Parner and Board Member in 2006. Since 2008 he has been its worldwide Chief Creative Officer, in charge of more than 30 offices in 13 countries.

PATRICK LARA: Publicis Conseil - Managing Director

Patrick will present LE LOFT, a new way of working with creatives, YouTube stars and influencers.

Patrick joined the Publicis Groupe in 2010 to run the Carrefour Group on an international basis. He became managing director in 2011, running the worldwide Renault account. Previously he was at Grey Paris, where during his two-year period as co-president the agency won a number of pitches and creative awards. His advertising career began in 2008 at Intermarco/Publicis Etoile, followed by positions at DDB, Jean & Montmarin and TBWA.

The event from 9am to 5.30pm is expected to attract a strong crowd of creatives, advertisers and up-and-coming talents, along with the media.
